Hang On, I Need to Reboot My Shop!

I saw this shop front in downtown that was advertising large projection advertisements for your shop windows.
On the right is what the advertisement is supposed to look like.
Obviously one on the left had other ideas.

The dreaded blue screen of death.
Is this an omen for the shop?

Big Love

You may have seen this building in the second season of Big Love.
It appeared for a moment at the beginning of Episode 2 with a billboard advert of the main character's building supply store in place of the Marine Corps ad.
Big Love is on HBO and chronicles the life of a fictitious Polygamist family living in Sandy (a suburb of Salt Lake City)

Pioneer Day Parade

Each year, on July 24th, Utah has what they call Pioneer Day or "Days of 47". (Which most other places would call "Founder's Day")
The Salt Lake Valley was settled by members of the LDS Church. So in the case of Utah that makes the Mormons the Founders.
Of Course you can't have a founder's day without a parade!

I did not actually go to the Parade mainly because I had to work, and for a number of other reasons not for this forum.
Since the parade route blocked the Trax route I had to get off the train and walk the last six blocks to work.
That walk went right through the parade staging area. So I snapped a few shots.

Kaiser

This little metal guy sits at the entrance to place called Kaiser BBQ and General Store. A converted Butcher's Shop complete with a dining room that still has the rails on the ceiling where the beef hung in the cooler.

Now how BBQ and General Store are related is beyond me.
The shop is full of metal sculptures and Native American goods.

And the sandwiches are really quite good too.

Check it out on about 900 South and 300 West in Salt Lake.

Murphy's

Apparently Murphy's has been around for 30 years. Cool!
This is an Irish Bar on Main Street between 100 and 200 South.

Ginza Sushi

This little sushi bar is located on 209 West 200 South in Downtown.
I personally feel that fish are pets, not food, but I do like the sign (and I won't judge you for eating a pet ... unless it is a pet dog or cat)
;-)

The Rack

Fuel prices are taking their toll.
This is the bike rack in the basement of the building I work in. It has been full like this every day since gas prices hit $4 a gallon.
I love that more people are riding to work.

I just hope they keep it up even after the current fuel prices drop. If ever.

Salt Lake City Jazz Festival

These are the tickets you have to buy in order to consume the adult beverages on tap while you jam to some cool jazz on the lawn at Washington Square in downtown. The jazz music was part of the Salt Lake City Jazz Festival an annual weekend long Jazz Festival.
The other two photos are my shoes while they were attached to me while I am enjoying the adult beverages and cool jazz and the other is the backdrop of the main stage.

My favorite ensemble was the Salt Lake City Jazz Orchestra and Traincha, a beautiful Dutch singer, with an amazing voice doing Burt Bacharach songs.

These signs were within a half block of each other. They illustrate the polar opposites as the fight over dog waste and dog friendly gets messy in and around city parks!

More from the Land of the Lost.

A picture of the Prius in front of an interesting rock formation as well as a look at a sign near a trail in Dinosaur National Monument.
I guess this is a little proof that we got out of the damned contraption.

After a long and exhausting Theme Day I like to relax with a nice, tall, cold beer.
And you can't go wrong with a beer that has a dragon on the label.

Just Say No!

Today is the 1st of the month and like every 1st of the month it is Theme Day!

This Month's theme is "Signs that say 'No'"

I looked everywhere for a "No Bozos" sign but had no luck. In the end I just posted this sign that I found in a local shop window and decided that this was a message I would much rather send out into the world.
